// A tradition of passion

Steinbach Bike is a family-run business in Kitzbühel which has been making exclusive lightweight bikes by hand for 25 years. Since that time, the company has been operating on an international level, delivering its bikes cross the globe.

Steinbach Bike was founded in 1991 by Christian Steinbach. After a successful career as a hang-gliding world champion and with over 20 years’ experience in making hang-gliders and paragliders, the ‘Gyro Gearloose’ of Kitzbühel decided to turn his attentions to ultralight constructions in the cycling sector. His experience in working with special tubing, which he had already implemented in the production of hang-gliders, was the basis of his work. Thanks to his active spirit for innovation, the company founder presented the ‘Kitzbühler Edelschmiede’ in 1994 – the lightest production model mountain bike in the world. Since then, Steinbach Bike has been one of the world leaders in lightweight bike production. The next logical step was to develop the lightest production model E-Bike, which Steinbach Bike have had in their range since 2011. Since 2005 the bike manufacturing business has been successfully managed by the second generation – by daughter Brixa Steinbach and her partner Markus Mayr, who as a cycle technician, passionate about cycling, is carrying on the Christian Steinbach’s ideals and concepts.

The central theme – to provide the lightest bikes on the market –is still reflected in the company philosophy. Then, as today, the principal idea is constructing well thought-out lightweight bikes to meet customers’ specific needs – as bespoke builds which are specific to the person.

A family story which is inspiring

Over the years a great deal of parts, frames and components have been designed and produced here. Successes and failures have made Steinbach what it is today – a company built on passion where the focus is on the customer. With no compromise when it comes to quality, function and design.

In striving for perfection, we are continually committed to developing new components and products. Always one step ahead of the game. Our motivation to create something special has remained undiminished. So in the future too we will continue to offer our customers the best bikes on the market.

Continual, competitive quality

Whether pro, amateur or leisure rider – everyone appreciates high quality, exclusive bikes. It is Steinbach Bikes’ excellent reputation that have made them known and loved well beyond the borders of Austria. Athletes like Romet Baumann and Manuel Feller, pro riders like winner of the Tour of Austria, Thomas Rohregger, extreme rider Ulrich Mattersberger and up-and-coming rider Sebastian Schwöllenbach, multiple Olympian in the Triathlon, Eva Dollinger, and even VIPs like Hansi Hinterseer and Franz Beckenbauer place their trust in Steinbach bikes.
